Our Vision

Marathon, Portage, and Wood Counties are tobacco and nicotine-free.

Our Mission

Marathon, Portage, and Wood Counties are tobacco and nicotine-free. Our mission is accomplished by increasing knowledge and application of evidence-based practices. Our alliance is supported by the Commercial Tobacco Prevention and Treatment Program to address the burden of commercial tobacco use and exposure in Marathon, Portage, and Wood counties.

Our Goals

  1. Preventing tobacco use initiation by adults and youth
  2. Eliminating the exposure to secondhand smoke
  3. Promoting the use of evidence-based practices for the treatment of tobacco dependence
  4. Advance health equity by identifying and eliminating tobacco product-related inequities and disparities

Our Initiatives

Together we work to prevent the initiation of tobacco use by adults and youth, eliminate the exposure to secondhand smoke, promote the use of evidence-based strategies to treat commercial tobacco dependence, and address commercial tobacco-related disparities.

WI Wins

The Wisconsin Wins program is a science-based, state-level initiative designed to decrease youth access to tobacco products. The Wisconsin Wins program uses an effective mix of education and oversight to keep kids away from tobacco products by:

  • Conducting unannounced inspections at local tobacco retail outlets to track retailer compliance with Wisconsin’s tobacco sales laws.
  • Providing free training and educational resources that help retailers understand and comply with the law.
  • Engaging in community outreach and education to communicate the importance of preventing youth access to tobacco.

As long as Wisconsin’s youth continue to gain illegal access to tobacco products, Wisconsin Wins remains a crucial component of our state’s tobacco prevention and control efforts.
